Who says August in town is boring?

If you are wondering what's going on in and around Lausanne during the month of August, check out our picks:

  • August 1: Swiss National Day. National Day festivities will be in full swing from July 31 to August 4 at the Place de la Navigation in lakeside Ouchy, with a bevy of musical entertainment, food stalls and rides for children.
  • Experience the Paris 2024 Olympic Games at the Olympic Museum every Thursday in August and on Fridays and Saturdays during the Olympic Games (ending August 11). A full line-up of festive and sport activities on weekends during the Olympic Games. Competitions and the Closing Ceremony will be screened in the Olympic Park by the snack bar every day, weather permitting. Select events will also be shown in the museum’s auditorium and restaurant.
  • Lausanne Jardins - Dive into the worlds of water, discovering playful and surprising gardens to be visited free of charge. Have you tried out Les Bains d'Atlantis platform in Ouchy which glows at night?
  • August 2 and 3: Lausanne Garden Party in Parc du Loup. Multidisciplinary, free and for the general public, the Lausanne Garden Parties give pride of place to music, dancing, theatre, street arts and open-air cinema. Each of the proposals in the programme will take place according to the topography and specific possibilities of each park.
  • August 7-18: Lausanne su Mer. Sports and fun activities open to all ages, children and adults. No need to go to the seaside, the sea is coming to Lausanne!
  • August 7-10: Aperobeach Festival in Lutry offering musical evenings in the magical setting on the lakeside in Lutry.
  • August 9 and 10: Lausanne Garden Party in the Olympic Park.
  • August 16: Tavolata at Mille et un Fleurs featuring MOZZA'FIATO: a simple but generous meal shared between friends, families and guests! The evening will take place around a long table set among the flowers where all guests can enjoy wood-fired pizzas served in the middle of the table.
  • August 9, 14 and 16: Les Bobines de Valency. Outdoor cinema at Park de Valency with sports and sport competitions being the main theme of the screenings proposed.
  • August 22: Athletissima is THE summer sporting event in Lausanne. Every year, nearly 13,000 spectators gather to applaud the performances of 250 international athletes and the best Swiss talents. The day before (August 21) the competition, enjoy a special lunch break prepared by Déci Comptoir Gourmand.
  • August 23: Save the date for Creative Mornings Lausanne
  • August 24: Annual Disco RowFit with local DJ Piotr!
    Don't miss the opportunity to enjoy the incredible sunset of Lausanne while working out to DJ Piotr tunes. The class will be followed by a "lively" apéro!
  • August 24: Riponne Brunch (limited spots!). Céline Pasche of Se def and Alba Farnós Viñals of La Superette, invite you to enjoy a brunch using the products of the artisans of the Riponne market. A friendly moment with Hispano-Turkish inspirations on large tables at the foot of the Palais de Rumine. Fresh flowers and artisanal products will make this meal magical and delicious.
  • August 25-26: every year, the Triathlon de Lausanne is a sports event not to be missed!
  • August 29-31: Nox Orae music festival (Tour de Pelz). A “human-sized” festival on the shores of Lac Leman, this festival is a reference in the region for its psychedelic rock, electro-tinged pop, post-punk, and ethnic music. We are intrigued and always hear good things.
  • August 30: Anne-Sophie Pic's Market (Beau‐Rivage Palace, Lobby Lounge). This is one of Lausanne’s most popular events and always a delight. Don’t miss this opportunity to discover her favorite local producers for an inspiring encounter with passionate artisans and authentic products.
  • Lakeside concerts in Lutry: Every Thursday and Friday in August, come and stroll along the quays of Lutry where free concerts are offered from 8 p.m.

  • The first thematic exhibition devoted to Surrealism at the MCBA since 1987
  • Olympic Museum Welcome to the City of Lights! Delve into the fascinating history of the three Parisian editions of the Olympic Games in 1900, 1924 and 2024.
  • Bubbles Bursting (open air): Throughout the summer, BDFIL continues its celebration of comics by offering an exploration of humor. Until September 21, this open-air exhibition across the city, from the Cathedral to Ouchy, will offer a stroll in ten chapters, where the multiple facets that this theme takes in comics will be discovered.
  • Kids Club Aquatis - Creative workshops, games and educational activities are on the program every weekend until September 1.
