Montana's Sports Bar

Tucked away in a passageway most locals have probably overlooked, Montana’s occupies a space with a story to tell. Once home to a shisha lounge that overstayed its welcome, the place had all the marks of abandonment: faded paint, chipped glass, scratched tables, as though its previous tenants had left in a hurry. For a while, it collected dust, waiting for someone with vision – dreamers who could look past its tired walls and see the potential.

Enter the Fine Artisans Group (MCC, LCC, L’Appart, La Vaudaire), a team with a knack for breathing life into places others deem “untouchable” or undesirable. With the creative direction of Jasmine Gfeller (who we’ve unofficially nicknamed the Queen Midas of Lausanne) and her team, they’ve given this old haunt a makeover, transforming it into something far more than your average American sports bar. With Jasmine and her dream team at the helm, you can expect Montana’s to be more than a pitstop – it’s destined to become a neighborhood staple.

The challenge? Turning around the space in record time (read: grueling, long workdays). The result? A sports bar that stands out in Lausanne’s limited roster. Sure, the city has a handful of them, but few can boast Montana’s combination of great food, plenty of room, and – best of all – floors that aren’t sticky. Add to that thoughtful décor, an air hockey table, darts, a pinball machine, and a bartender who remembers your order, and you’ve got a recipe for a truly inviting spot.

Now, the important part – what to order from chef Craig Maxwell's kitchen. Beyond the ice-cold beers, you *must* try the deep-fried pickles, aka Remy's Frickles. If you’ve never heard of them, trust us: the sour crunch of the pickle wrapped in airy batter is an unexpectedly perfect companion to your drink of choice. Then there are the Iceman Wings, smothered in your pick of homemade sauces (we recommend the buffalo) with a side of blue cheese dip. Or, go for the slow-cooked baby back ribs that fall off the bone. And of course, you can’t go wrong with the burgers, hot dogs, nachos, and salads for something more substantial – or for those who don’t like sharing.

As summer fades and a cool breeze creeps in, we all know what’s next: American football season. Montana’s is the perfect place to gather, where the beer is cold, the wings are hot, and rivalries are always welcome. After all, what’s better than a little friendly competition? Perhaps, competition with a side of rösti fries.

TLG Tip: Mark your calendars because every Saturday Montana's will be hosting different events like live concerts, piano karaoke, line dancing, and DJs.
