Lausanne’s food scene keeps evolving, and the latest addition on Avenue Georgette is all about keeping it simple. Classic opened its doors quietly a few months ago and has already built a small following of those craving a straightforward, well-made burger. No trends, no gimmicks—just burgers, fries, and lots of fun sauces to keep things interesting.
The menu is refreshingly short and to the point. The “Classic Burger” features a beef patty with cheddar, lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, and their house sauce—just the essentials. If you’re in the mood for something bolder, there are a few upgraded versions, including one with with onion rings inside the burger itself. The chicken options don't disappoint either, they even have one with nachos!
Sides include golden fries, crispy onion rings, and the unexpected standout: sweet potato fries. Perfectly seasoned and just the right level of crisp—they quickly became the table favorite.
A snapshot at our order: the signature Classic Burger, as well as the Mighty beef - that has a fried mozzarella in the burger that gives the burger that little something extra. On the side we ordered a round of onion rings, sweet potato fries, and a full spread of sauces (because who can choose just one?). The house sauce is tangy and rich, while the barbecue and truffle options are worth dipping everything into—twice.
It’s the kind of meal you want after a long walk, before a casual night out, or when you’re just craving something satisfying without overthinking it.
So if you find yourself hungry after a movie at Le Capitol or heading to a show at the the Lausanne Opera, Classic is a convenient and easygoing option. It’s quick, it’s fresh, and while it may still be finding its full groove, it delivers on what it promises.
TLG Tip: do not skip the sweet potato fries with the honey mustard sauce.
