Beirut House

November 6, 2023

Just a stone's throw from the Jordils metro stop, Beirut House is a new sous gare addition that apparently we are the last to know about.

The small 4-table restaurant is filled with the lunch rush - mostly a queue for take-away, but a few diners hover around soon-to-be empty tables, hoping to catch a seat.

tabouleh

While the decor is sparse, and some may say even cold, it's immediately apparent that you do not come to Beirut House for an Instagrammable meal. It's rather the focus on the flavors, authenticity, and freshness of each dish from the kitchen that leaves you wishing you had room to try one more dish.

We tried the Taouk, a perfectly seasoned and chargrilled chicken brochette with rice, fattoush, and hummus. On the side, we ordered tabouleh, seasoned potatoes, and incredibly fresh falafel. The portions were generous, the service even more so -- welcoming and kind, with a sense of pride and eagerness to share a taste of Lebanese culture through taste. And because we couldn't taste it all, we just have to go back...which we will.
