Design Days is a contemporary design festival that brings together emerging talents, established brands and international creators through exhibitions, installations, talks and sensory experiences. For its 17th edition, it returns for the third year to La Rasude in Lausanne.
From May 28th to 31st, Design Days is back at La Rasude for its 17th edition — and its final one in Lausanne’s iconic former postal sorting centre. For four days, this raw brutalist building next to the station turns into a buzzing playground for contemporary design, bringing together exhibitions, installations, fashion, talks, workshops, emerging talents and major design brands under one roof.
Organised by the magazine Espaces contemporains, the event mixes collectible pieces, experimental projects and everyday objects with a fresh, accessible energy that makes design feel exciting rather than intimidating. And yes — many of the pieces on display can actually be purchased.
This year’s highlights include Le Repère, a slightly surreal and poetic group exhibition curated by Atelier Vladimir Boson, The Last Bead by Adrien Rovero and Cécile Feilchenfeldt exploring disappearing Murano glass bead craftsmanship, and Totem by Lara Buffard, an immersive installation of masks, embroidery and sculptural forms. ECAL will also present a furniture project developed around Swiss marble with Cristallina Design.
Fashion joins the mix too, thanks to the presence of around 20 Swiss fashion and accessories brands presented by Swiss Fashion Point, alongside an installation by Swiss designer Adeline Rappaz, whose handmade couture pieces blur the line between garment and sculpture.
Beyond the exhibitions, Design Days is really about wandering, discovering and meeting people. Expect talks, workshops, interior design coaching sessions, networking events and plenty of opportunities to chat directly with designers, makers and brands.
And for those wanting the full experience, the now-famous Design Dinner returns on May 30th: an immersive evening where scenography, food, light and design collide in a spectacular setting.
Part design fair, part cultural event, part creative hangout, Design Days has become one of the most vibrant moments on Lausanne’s cultural calendar — and this final edition at La Rasude promises to go out in style.
