Cooking Atelier at Alimentarium in Vevey
You can bring the cake OR you can let those kids make their own cake. The Alimentarium hosts birthday workshops in their Junior Academy kitchens where each child gets to make a small cake to take home. Then, with the help of parents, the children are encouraged to set off and discover food & nutrition through games. After that, kids get to enjoy a cake baked by the very chef who led the kids through their workshop in the first place. Suitable for ages 6-12, maximum of 12 participants. 350 CHF
Chocolate Atelier at Cailler Chocolate Factory
Your child will make his or her very own chocolate creation right in the heart of the Cailler Chocolate factory alongside their friends, then they’ll get a chance to visit the factory and go through the attractions together. Games and food are all included in the birthday party package at Fun Planet in Villeneuve. A minimum of 6 kids and max of 15, you can choose between 2 “formules” or packages:
- The Forfait Fun Anni-Bowl which includes 1 hour of bowling, plus cake, drinks, popcorn, all the tableware, plus an already made invitation. You have the option of ‘upgrading’ and personalizing your package for additional costs (i.e. choosing a theme, balloons, or medals/trophies) Standard package is 26 chf/per kid.

Got some problem solvers in your group? Why not try out the UltimEscape escape rooms for a birthday celebration? Suitable for children from 8 to 12 years old, they have several kid-friendly versions of their games which average at around 30 chf per person. You can either pay just for the game and bring everything (except drinks which can be purchased at their onsite bar) OR you have the option of paying an additional 8 chf per child for the “Birthday Package” which means you bring the cake, but they decorate, provide plates etc. and do the cleaning.
Or as they say, Colore Ta Fête. Get suited up, enter the room where the magic begins, and spend the next 90 minutes making memories and of course, art. This unique painting experience is a chance to get a little messy, and go home with one-of-a-kind artwork. After the painting session, have some cake and open presents in the little space offered next to the Color box. 400chf for 8 people, 50 chf for each extra person, maximum of 10 people.
Yes, you can actually host a party with a bunch of kids throwing axes. It’s a thing. But be rest assured that the monitors present take axe throwing very seriously, and the actual environment is conducive to absolute safety. The kids have to be at least 10 years old and wise beyond their years.
For the artists in your family, head over to Atelier Ardesia in Pully where groups of around 10 children can gather in a dedicated space to paint their own masterpiece and take it home with them. The duration is 2 hours, and drinks, sweets and all the painting materials are included. You can even ask them to bake a cake for an additional 15 chf. The rate is 300 chf for 10 children, and can be adjusted based on the number of participants.
Less into painting and want to try out ceramics? Then head to Le Coin Mus’Art where you can choose a theme and the owner Benedicte Simonsen will lead the children through various imaginative exercises to help them begin the process. The kids will model their own sculptures, then take a break for the party where Benedicte prepares homemade waffles. After the break, the children get to paint their models and 3 weeks later can be collected after they’ve been fired and glazed. Ideal group size is 6 children, maximum 8 children. Price is 290 chf.
Need to satiate a child who loves high-adrenaline activities? Then head to Laser Game Evolution where the dark and disorienting interior is only the beginning. Kids will be equipped with special vests and laser guns and divided into teams, where they compete to score the maximum points by navigating dark mazes across several floors and eliminating the other team members. It’s suitable for both adults and kids from age 7 but need to be at least 1.20m in height. Prices begin at 17chf per person and can go up to 47 chf per person (minimum of 6 players), with several birthday packages to choose from.
Does your child have a fascination with fish, frogs, and reptiles? Then head to Aquatis where they lead birthday workshops in French for children from 5 years old (though the recommended age is 7-12). You can choose from 2 options: either a 1 hour or 1.5-hour visit lead by a member of the Aquatis team, then the possibility of having a room available for afternoon tea after the guided tour. Prices range from 75 CHF plus admission (birthday child is free plus 2 adult tickets are included in the price)
Got an aspiring patry chef in the family? Then head to Royaume Melazic for a personalized workshop where gorgeous cupcakes are guaranteed. Participants will get their hands dirty by preparing the icing and the pastry chefs will teach techniques for decorating. After the entertainment comes the time to blow out the candles, enjoy snacks and open gifts. Each child leaves with a box of 6 personally decorated cupcakes. A maximum of 2 adults can join, 8 children + 1 facilitator is 280 chf or 12 children + 1 facilitator is 420 chf. There is also the Paillette birthday option.
For other aspiring chefs, head to the darling workshop of Le Fraisier where your child can put on an apron with their friends and make anything from sweet treats to gourmet meals. For the movie buffs, head to Pathé Cinema for a fun screening with friends. Choose from 2 packages: Package 1 includes 1 cinema ticket + 1 Kids box for up to 8 people for 149 chf (each additional person is 20.90 chf) or Package 2 includes 1 cinema ticket + 1 Kids Box + a birthday area with decorations and a syrup bar. It’s possible to bring a birthday cake or order a chocolate cake from Pathé (for 30chf). Package 2 price is 249 for 5-8 kids (each additional person is 20.90 for a max of 20 people). Does your child have an active imagination, a love of castles, knights, or magical creatures? Then head to Chateau de Chiillon where they can explore every corner of this X century castle with their friends (and even have access to places that are closed to other visitors). On Wednesdays and Saturdays, the Chateau welcomes kids from 4-12 years of age for tailor-made treasure hunts. An animator in costume takes the kids on a journey (you get to choose the theme!) before having a snack. From monsters and battles to archeological findings and magic, your children will enter a world that is guaranteed to be full of fun and fantasy. Duration is 120 minutes, can be done in French or English, and price is 350 CHF. Max 10 children and 2 adults.
Any aspiring archers out there? Or looking to do something a bit different? Head to the World Archery Center right here in Lausanne where kids will be led through a fun “Discover Archery” session, complete with birthday games and balloons, as they learn to safely shoot a bow and arrow. Sessions are suitable for ages 8 and above, and costs 35 CHF per child (minimum of 7 children per group).
Calling all young archeologists! At the ArchéoLab in Pully, you can choose one of four different experiences -- from excavating and identifying bones to discovering eating habits of the Romans and preparing a secret recipe. The workshop is led by an ArchéoLab facilitator and lasts 2 hours (1h30 for the workshop and 30 minutes for the snack). Different experiences are suitable for different ages (from 4 -12 years old) and the maximum number of participants is 12 children. Prices are 150 CHF. Reservations are required at least 2 weeks in advance and at most 3 months before the desired date.
Make your own bath bomb or ‘foam bread’ at the Lush boutique here in Lausanne. For 1.5 hours, you’ll be led through the process of making your products with 2 employees (2 adults are required to supervise children as well). They provide water and syrup; guests can bring cake and/or snacks. The cost starts at 300 chf for 8 people or less, and you can add additional guests for 25 chf per person. Each guest receives products with a value of about 100 chf. They recommend booking directly at the store at least 4 weeks in advance.
Got any local history buffs in the family? Then head to the Musée Historique Lausanne for an original experience where kids will be having too much fun to notice they’re actually learning a few things. Choose from one of their many experiences – from the history of travel with an interactive suitcase to discovering the principles of photography by building their very own “camera oscura” and making a real print. Workshops are 1h30 and begin at age 7 and go up until 16 years of age. Price is 170chf for up to 15 children and includes a mediator/facilitator.
