This huge project, designed by Fehlmann Architects, was aimed to preserve the identity of this iconic theatre while at the same time improving and simplifying its spaces and circulation.
The gorgeous entryway opens to a vast foyer with sweeping staircases, the foyer du poulailler has a panoramic terrace with views of the city, lake, and mountains. Within the theatre room itself, the wooden walls have been carefully restored and the glorious chandelier returned to its rightful place amongst thousands of wooden slats that curve harmoniously – a beautiful design but also functional as it improves acoustics.
To round out your cultural experience, stop by “Quintino!”, an Italian-style restaurant adjacent to the theatre and there to serve you with homemade dishes. Whether you want to grab a quick bite before the show or want to settle in for a gourmet evening, managers Monika Petrusove and Guido Quintino have merged their Italian culinary knowledge to provide a gastronomic experience that balances modernity and innovation. Don’t have time to sit down for a whole meal? Quintino also manages the theatre’s three bars, offering drinks and snacks before and after performances.
