Ok guys. Honestly we thought we had already reviewed The Lacustre. We thought for sure it had a secure place in our little corner of the interwebs–after all, we’ve hosted events there, we’re there regularly for Taco Tuesdays, for Sunday brunch, for apéros and pizzas, and random afternoon beers. But then after doing some reorganization, cleaning up here and there, we realized WE HAVEN’T FORMALLY WRITTEN ABOUT THE LACUSTRE ON OUR SITE. Alright, phew. Confession sorted, let’s move on.
But here’s the thing. While most of you will know and frequent The Lacustre because of it’s panoramic lakeside/alpine view, we want to draw your attention to the actual food and drinks. Don’t get us wrong, the view is ace; the vibe during the spring and summer terrace months cannot be found anywhere else in Lausanne. But most of the time, a place like this with such incredible atmosphere uses those views as a crutch and feels entitled to push cruise control on everything else. The Lacustre is not one of those lazy places.
Brought to us by the same team behind The Great Escape and La Grappe D’Or, it’s no wonder that we’ve never had a disappointing dish at The Lacustre. In fact, we can go one step further and say that we’ve actually had some of our favorite dishes at The Lacustre. The pizzas, made in a wood fire stone oven, are made with a perfectly crispy thin crust, the best combination of toppings, and are such a great value in terms of price. Their deep fried avocado taco is mind-blowing and makes us carnivores consider going full-on vegetarian. Their sweet and savory pancakes during the weekend brunch rival those found in the trendiest brunch spots in Melbourne or Manhattan. And the burgers…oh the burgers.
Needless to say, The Lacustre should be on your regular rotation regardless of the season. It’s location may indicate it’s “summer only”, but we are here to say go now, go often, and order anything and everything on the menu. You won’t be disappointed.
