Minimalists abstain. Stepping into this flower shop and interior design boutique on Rue Marterey is a flamboyant and delightfully eccentric visual explosion of texture and color. Staggered from floor to ceiling, fresh and dried flowers mingle with unusual house plants and decorative feathers; wander in beyond the threshold and you’re rewarded by a second room filled with unique home goods – curiosities that challenge the idea that clean lines and empty space are the visual foundation of wellbeing.
The sensory universe cultivated here by owner Lois Vitry-Trapman seems predicated on the belief that we should be surrounded by objects that surprise, delight, invite questions, break codes. Much of what’s for sale here has been gathered on her travels – an artist she met here, a soap maker she met there. The result is a sort of eclectic curated chaos that enlivens and enchants. Indeed, it’s a breath of fresh air in a world of muted palettes and simplicity.
