Nestled in the quiet streets of La Cité here in Lausanne is a new delightful boulangerie with a selection of pastries and other sweet and savory specialties for lunch.

Brought to us by the team at Crock Meal, a traiteur who specializes in local and seasonal poke bowls and croque monsieurs to go, is a charming new boulangerie in Lausanne bearing the name of the street on which it resides. Boasting quite possibly the best croissant in Switzerland from Bread Store, cinnamon rolls, and cookies — its vintage rough-luxe decor is cozy and inviting, welcoming you in to stay awhile.

And if you’re not part of the morning rush, you can pop by for lunch and take part in freshly made poke bowls and croque monsieurs. Though the interior is charming with plush oversized leather couches and vintage touches, we can imagine a late spring coffee on the sidewalk tables outside the boulangerie — croissant crumbs scattering on the cobblestoned streets, listening to the bells ring from the cathedral just a stone’s throw away.

There’s something about La Cité – as if the history of the neighborhood, the old walls and stones, transport you even if just for a moment and invite you to slow down. Here at Boulangerie de l’Academie, there’s finally a space in this neighborhood to take your time.
